Antoine knew he’d screwed up as soon as she fell silent. Her face, which had been full with anger a few moments before, went blank from all emotion. She turned away and walked away from him, climbed the stairs to their shared bedroom and silently packed a bag. She didn’t even say where she was going.
It wasn’t that he didn’t know, though. The apartment she used to live in was only a few blocks away, and her parents still payed the rent for her in case she needed to go back there someday. Her old apartment was were she went whenever she needed a time for herself, her art studio, and the place where she kept the belongings she didn’t have room for in her and Antoine’s flat.
